Well I tried one of the posts from my Tips page....turned out yummy.....thought I would share! Now bear in mind my husband was starving ( thought he was working late and he wasn't so I wasn't in a position to do things just so and it was later than usual for dinner ( we had taken a late afternoon nap) so I didn't have much time for tweeking this....I wanted to put the salad in the middle like in the image b/c I think that is really pretty but in the end I did my own thing which is usually how it rolls with me anyway! Now that I know the deal I will attempt the salad in the middle next time....This really was yummy! My husband told me it was good too so I will be making this again!--Tips
All you need to make the following images is:
I used 2 bubba burgers but you could just use whatever hamburger you have on hand....it called for 2 pds in original recipe
I then added some diced onion to the hamburger while it was cooking....this is optional but I love real onion...it really makes everything taste better
Once the meat was pretty much ready I added about a 1/3 of a dry packet of cheesy taco seasoning to the meat and stirred it in....the recipe then called for adding 1.5 cups of water to the meat/seasoning mixture but I just added about an inch or so of water so it wouldn't be overtaken by the liquid....it was soupy enough to where I ended up mopping up the pizza crust before putting it in the oven.....you just want enough liquid to where the crescent rolls will sop it up ( that's what I was aiming for at least)
Then I got out a pizza stone but you could use a cookie sheet if need be.....and sprayed it with cooking spray to make sure nothing stuck to it then I arranged 2 packages of crescent rolls with the big part of the triangle in the middle of the pizza stone and I just kind of flipped over the end so it wouldn't be hanging off the edge. I then filled in my middle unlike the original so it was more of a circle or bowl not a wreath shape..I then topped the crescent rolls with the meat mixture...I thought I would have enough meat to pull the meat out to make a wreath shape on the edges but again, no time to fiddle with a hungry man in the next room. So I went with what I had....I was pushing my luck taking pics along the way! :) I did mop up whatever sauce was escaping from the ring with a paper towel ( grease fires tend to make dinner even later....hahaha)
So I just flipped the ends over the meat on the edges and hoped for the best. At some point I had preheated the oven to 375. The recipe claimed it called for 30 min but that was not the case in my oven. Maybe 10 or 15 min max and they were nice and golden brown.I sprinkled some shredded cheddar on top and called it complete ( you could add cheese before cooking too...in all honesty I forgot all about the cheese).... I cooked the 4 remaining crescent rolls from the second canister but next time I think I will buy 3 things of crescent rolls and make another ring of just crescent rolls made into a ring for a salad....a seperate one from the meat one.....It really was yummy. And easy. My kinda recipe!!--Tips
PS I forgot to mention i used a pizza cutter to cut it and a spatula to serve them....worked great!!
