Excerpt from Simple Abundance ( page entitled Sept 29th)

Been randomly picking up a book I was given years ago. Funny how that happens. Someone gives you a book with  good intentions.... you neglect it for years then Bam...you finally begin reading it. When the student is ready the teacher will appear ( great quote learned years ago and miraculously retained) Anyway.... it is called  "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Breathnach. Good stuff. Little blurbs about this or that....Gonna share some of her tips for jazzing up your office below.....

**  Sarah writes...."Create a pleasing and pretty workplace....aim for creating a comfortable nest rather than a sterile environment"....she then suggests you do the following:

--Bring in a beautiful desklamp, baskets and wooden boxes to hold papers.Bring in a flowering plant and small bouquets in the various seasons ( paraphrasing here). Not only will they look pretty but they will help remove toxins from the air.( my own two cents not Sarahs)

--Keep an ample supply of pens and pencils in cups on your desk and find notepads that suit your personal taste

---Find a handsome pillow for your chair or the visitors chair

---Add dashes of color where you can....paperclips or whatever

---Hang a painting that you never tire looking at

---Create a "comfort drawer"...fill it with whatever you always wanted at work but didn't have : kleenex, nail cutters, safety pins, q tips, tampons, extra pair of panty hose.....you get the idea

--Create a "boredom buster" drawer....tuck in deck of cards, puzzle book, book or magazine you have been meaning to look at, notecards or thank you notes, etc for down times when you just can't bear to work any longer

---Bring in a pretty cosmetic bag for dental items so you can brush after lunch, reapply makeup, apply lotion to dry hands,etc....this comes in handy if big meeting or big date after work ;)

--Music played low can soothe a tired soul....

--Aromatherapy works wonders....she advises a " sculptural scent diffuser"....not only will it smell lovely but the moisture from the water will put moisture back in the dry office air....she warns everyone will be in your office and not know why....haha

---Stretch like  a cat every few hours ( private office preferably....haha)

---Every week or so bring in some treat for the office to share in a lovely basket or tin.....

Like  Sarah says "Little civilizing details can make all the difference" ( and it is true)!!---Tips
